First Day is Over
The first day of classes is over. All four of my classes seemed interesting, but I have got some HW to do and have to go.
I am officially a Freshman (again)!
In just 45 minutes, my first class (03-121 Modern Biology) starts. I officially begin my CMU academic year at 8:30.

PURPLE MUDGE WINS THE HOUSEWARS 2008 AT CLASS OF 2012 ORIENTATION!!!
Students Ponder 'Last Lecture'
"With "Move-In Day" madness behind them, first-year Carnegie Mellon students recently sat down in small groups with faculty and staff to share their reflections on "The Last Lecture."
Prior to their arrival on campus, all incoming students were sent a copy of the New York Times bestselling book based on Randy Pausch's now-famous talk. Reading the book was a first assignment of sorts — aimed at inspiring them to live the life of their dreams. .... "

Convocation 2008
On the fifth day of CMU Orientation, the Convocation was held. For the last time until Graduation, the 1440+ CMU Class of 2012 members were officially welcomed by the CMU President Dr. Jared Cohen. On this 80+ Fahrenheit day, I sat and just thought about the words of Dr. Randy Pausch (who wanted to be the Keynote Speaker today, instead The Last Lecture co-author CMU alumnus Jeffrey Zaslow (H&SS, 1980) delivered the keynote) and how fortunate I am to be in CMU. And where else do you have the bagpiping band welcoming you to college!

Orientation (Day 2)
Today's orientation revolved around houses. We played more icebreaker games (getting tired of them) and went around Pittsburgh (there is nothing fun at Southside). But the day ended with all of the CMU Class of 2012 (2013+ for some) in the largest, fun, and long icebreaker (the best one yet, obviously!) with all of the 1400+ freshmen.
