As I started to work in the Hunt Library, I looked outside the window and CMU's Boss, the winner of DARPA Grand Challenge 2007, for the first time.
It is currently parked in front of Doherty Hall (look at the picture below from the Hunt Library).

Campus Alert: Water Main Break
"There’s been a water main break on Forbes Avenue at the bus stop in front of Hamburg Hall on the Pittsburgh campus. Forbes Avenue is flooded and is currently closed between Morewood Avenue and Craig Street. The PWSA is responding to shut off the main water valve. The water supply to Hamburg Hall has been temporarily shut down."
If you go down right now on Morewood Avenue (between Forbes and Fifth Avenues), there is a big traffic jam.
WPXI Coverage. This had also happened last year.

CMU Obama Riot
It was not just a Yes We Can chant next door, it was an entire Obama riot that headed towards Pittsburgh downtown until the cops stopped it. Around 12:40 p.m. I went outside to see what was going, and soon found 100s of people walking up on Forbes Avenue. And there were 3 or 4 polics cars. I decided to join the group and we rushed towards the Hunt Library, but then decided to come back towards Morewood Avenue. By now I realized there probably couple of hundred people in the crowd. We went to Geek Quad and stopped for few minutes. I thought it was over, but we did not stop and continued to towards Oakland on Forbes Avenue. By now, I think there were 1000 - 2000 people in the riot and we all walked on Forbes towards S. Craig street. We turned on S. Craig street, I thought then we will turn back on Fifth Avenue, but no and we continued on Fifth towards Oakland. By then I realized that this was something big. We gathered more people (some from UPitt joined us), and we had a small stop at Mellon Institute and Soldiers and Sailors. Soon more and more cops started to come.
Yes We Can!
Sitting in my room and listening to the loud chant, "Yes We Can!" next door in the Morewood Parking lot.
Change Can Happen!
I Painted the Fence
Early this morning, I got to paint the Fence at the cut for the first time!. Around 11 p.m. last night, I gathered with 20 to 30 other Barack Obama enthusiastic students (both from CMU and New York colleges) to cover the entire CMU campus with Obama stuff. From sliding Obama door hangers with polling locations in dorms (we cannot technically hang them on door knobs) to chalking sidewalks to covering billboards with Obama posters, I helped the Students for Barack Obama (SFBO) Obamafied CMU. But the best part came when I got to paint the Fence light blue. In the end, the fence looked great. On the front it said OBAMA! (with the Obama campaign logo replacing the O's), and on the back it said VOTE 'O8.
Coming Back...
After more than 2 months of inactiveness, I will be returning to posting on this blog.
